The 30th  Annual
2021 State Watercolor Exhibition


April 6, 2021 to May 24, 2021, Gilpin Arts Association Gallery

Awards: Over $3,000 in cash and merchandise, Including $1,000 for Best of Show!


Eligibility

Open to all artists, 18 years of age or older, residing in Colorado.  CWS members who have moved out of state and maintain membership may enter.

Entry Requirements

  • Paintings must be predominantly water media (watercolor, acrylic, gouache, casein or tempera) on paper or synthetic paper, (no canvas) completed within the last two years (1/1/2019 to present) not previously shown in a juried exhibit in Colorado.

  • Images: .jpg only300dpi, Under 4mb, Max of 4600px on longest side

  •  Painting must be original and not copied from any copyright material or photographs, except those taken by the artist.  No computer generated (digital) art will be accepted.  Collage materials must be on papers painted by the artist.  It is the artist’s responsibility to receive permission to use any likenesses in any painting.   

  • The artist’s signature should appear on the front of the painting.  CWS reserves the right to refuse any painting that does not comply with the requirements stated in this Call for Entry or does not match the submitted image.  In case of question, the Chairperson's decision will be final. 

  • CWS reserves the right to reproduce images of accepted works for publicity and educational use.  

  • Registration must be completed by the Submission Deadline.  See tutorial below for instructions on completing registration and uploading images.  All information, including prices, is considered final on the Submission Deadline and may not be changed after that date.  No exceptions.  All work displayed must remain for the duration of the exhibition. 

  • Any requirements of the exhibit not fulfilled will result in disqualification.  Works juried into this exhibit and not delivered for exhibit will prohibit the artist’s entry in CWS exhibitions for two years.

Presentation

Minimum image size 8 X 10 inches.  All works must be delivered framed and ready to hang. Framing must meet gallery quality standards.  Frames must be suitable to the work and the exhibit, must be undamaged and reinforced with hardware and picture wire in place.  No sawtooth hangers. 
 
All works must be matted in clean white or off-white mats. No exceptions.  Colored liners or fillets may not be larger than ¼”.  ALL paintings must be under Plexiglas. Paintings delivered with chipped, cracked, damaged, dirty or improper presentation will be returned at the artist’s expense.  For a list of suggested mat colors, click HERE.

Image Instructions

Digital image files must conform to the following requirements:  Images should be cropped so that only the painting image shows and only that part of the painting that will show when the painting is matted. No mats, hands, background, edges, etc. should be visible in the entry image.

File format: .jpg files (no exceptions). Resolution must be 300 dpi.  Submissions must be under 4mb and a maximum of 4600px on the longest side.  ArtCall will permanently resize submissions in 3 separate sizes (regardless of the original size): 100px, 1080px and maximum saved dimension setting (1920 by default.)

Delivery and Pickup

Instructions for delivery or shipping will be provided with notification of acceptance.

Sales of Artwork

All entries must be for sale.  No price changes will be accepted. A 40% commission will be charged on all sales. Price your paintings accordingly.
